AHA certified BLS / CPR training at Pondicherry

Stevens CPR conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) workshop at Pondicherry International Safety Training Academy (PISTA). It was the first CPR course we had conducted after the SARS Cov2 lockdown began.

There were six participants and the training was conducted using all Covid19 safety guidelines with adequate social distancing and hand sanitizing measures. As recommended by the American Heart Association (AHA), all manikins used during the training were sanitized strictly between trainees.

PISTA is the only training provider in South India that offers courses in safety, survival, emergency and rescue training to personnel working in offshore oil and gas industry. Stevens CPR has been providing AHA accredited BLS / CPR training to the staff of PISTA for the past three and a half years, at their premises a few kilometres away from Pondicherry city.

Dr. Anand Monickam of Stevens CPR was the lead instructor for the workshop. Ms. Sumathy, AHA Instructor was the assisting instructor. Stevens CPR conducts AHA certified courses such as BLS, ACLS, Heartsaver First Aid & CPR, anywhere in India. All AHA courses are conducted under the American Heart Association International Training Centre (ITC), International Academy of Emergency Medicine (IAEM), Delhi.

Stevens CPR uses Laerdal qCPR Feedback manikins in all its AHA training programmes. The student practising CPR has real-time feedback on the compression rate, compression depth, chest recoil between compressions and chest rise during delivery of artificial breaths. The visual feedback is available to the student through the Laerdal qCPR app that can be installed on the student’s mobile phone itself. The app is connected to the manikin by bluetooth. The student can observe the app by having the mobile phone placed in front of her and based upon the feedback the app gives, she can adjust her technique thereby directly improving the quality of CPR training and practice.
